We empower exiled media professionals to contribute their skills to the German job market.
„The cooperation with MiCT offers the opportunity for refugees working in the media sector to participate in further training and start working while still living in the communal accommodation. We expect this pilot project, which is unique in Brandenburg, to provide significantly better starting conditions for the refugees and to enable faster integration.“
Bernd Schade, Head of Social Affairs in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark
We provide a safe and welcoming environment where media professionals in exile can find stability, access modern equipment, and receive professional support to confidently navigate the German system and rebuild their careers.
Through tailored training and opportunities, we help transform adversity into powerful journalism, creative expression, and entrepreneurial ventures —impacting our local community to audiences across Germany.
At the same time, we connect our residents with companies and organizations that value resilience, international perspectives, and creativity, opening up opportunities for collaboration, employment, and growth.

Creative Director
“I wanted to show the beauty and strength in everyday encounters — the stories we often overlook right next door. I’m deeply moved by how people connected with the portraits and how they sparked new important conversations.”
ABOUT US
Since July 2024, a new centre for journalists, photographers, podcasters, programmers, editors and illustrators, whose lives are threatened in their home countries and who have fled to Germany to continue their work has been established in Brandenburg.
The exiled media professionals are supported with accommodation, training, equipment, and networking opportunities. MiCT gGmbH and Coconat support us to make our qualifications and knowledge fruitful for innovations and new narratives.
Together with social workers and industry professionals, we are creating a new professional future — not only for our residents, but also for the local community and the wider German labour market.
The Press about us
MiCT is a non-profit organisation that has been supporting journalists and media professionals from conflict regions and regions in the global south for more than 20 years. We are the host organisation of the Exile Media Hub Brandenburg.
